Too bad you Americans aren’t European students. European colleges are heavily subsidized. Although tuition fees are? going up in Europe, they’re still relatively low and won’t leave you in debt for years. College in Belgium is about $900 a year.

Some college is needed, for example if you are going to get into the medical field it is crucial you get an education. Although, if you are just majoring in something like “art history” or “religious studies” you can easily find a job in those fields by working your way up. I learned that the hard way. Now days when everyone has a college education, it isn’t as special as it used? to be. Employers are looking for real world experience, not a piece of paper that everyone else has.

The American educational system sucks? ass! Like he said it´s a joke. Teachers get paid, basically, to be babysitters. O know what is like, cause I used to be a student in the US. I did most of my schooling there.

Employers are also going to be screwed. If an employer eliminates everyone without a “college education” as a candidate, they are losing out BIG TIME. First of all, every employer wants experienced employees but no one will give the new guy a chance. That’s why it’s who you know not what you know.
Best thing for employers to do is? have on job training. Teach them what you think is valuable and at the same time learn their personalities which you can’t do in an interview.

very good point man well said. being a college grad i can agree the education in the private college was great but the price tag is? what tips the scales too much.

“A degree does? not guarantee you *a job* even in the field that you studied in.”
There is an entire lost generation coming.? Even if you got the best grades and landed a job, are you ever going to make it to the top? The economy and government is dominated by a handful of people probably less than 100. They control government, have the monopolies, write the laws, and own intellectual property for eternity (corporations never die).

“A degree does not guarantee you *a job* even in? the field that you studied in.”

  20. harveybirdmannequin says:

    @harveybirdmannequin
If I had to do it all over again, I would only attend university to get a degree that is required for a job and if I don’t get accepted, I would have left that instant.
All you young un’s out there. Learn from us. Heed our warnings. So many of us regret attending college. A bad economy is a bad? economy is a bad economy. A degree does not guarantee you an education even in the field that you studied in.
No one told me these things. I feel so cheated.

All I can say is that the more you participate in college the better, The guest made a great point most students dont study nearly as much to them its just one giant social experiment which there is nothing wrong with socializing but at the end of the day most people go to college to get a good degree. I always didnt understand people who go to class either? to surf the web or talk to another classmates its annoying.

  24. Sagefrakrobatik says:

@TeslaTechnologyRocks Do you think that might work for men to? Not saying I would go that route its ridiculous? but I just thought….

  25. HardCoreProgrammer1 says:

@munib1000 Actually you got things the other? way around. Most of the time you cant get to a place without a job experience, and 10% of the degrees are worth doing: Engineering, Medicine, Law related degrees (u will need to get 80% on them to get a job). Google: programming jobs, asp.net, c#, c, java, web developer, web designer, animator…. no fucking degree required..lol

    TRADE SKILLS.
    Super important.

I now know & am learning welding, carpentry, digging, wiring, plumbing, gardening, roofing, plumbing, forestry & other skills.
I am learning how to fend for myself & begin to start a more self-sustainable community, as well as teaching others these skills.
    Question:
When the dollar collapses, where will your essentials like food, clothes & clean water come from?

    Think hard? on that.

Take care of yourselves and each other. :)
